I was born to a big family. We were nine siblings. Those were the days when we made our own toys from whatever materials were available—rubber bands, grass, leaves, tin cans, wood and the like. Those were the days when the streets were our playground. We were also a poor family, and both my parents had the double disadvantage of not having a good education, and not having good role models in their parents. Because of these disadvantages, my parents had difficulty raising us—both in providing for our needs and in giving us guidance.
