Taking God’s Word Into Colombia
By and large, the people of Colombia believe in God and Jesus. But their knowledge is more an awareness rather than a deep, abiding faith and trusting relationship. So the need to place God’s Word in the hands of the people there is great.
In mid-September, an international team of 22 Gideons arrived in Colombia to conduct a two-week International Scripture Blitz (ISB). The team included Gideons from the US, Finland, Germany, Australia, United Kingdom and South Africa.
The population of Colombia is 44.7 million, 90% is Catholic, 3% Protestant, and 7% other.

The Northern Rocky Mountain Scripture Blitz
The Northern Rocky Mountain Scripture Blitz was conducted in late September. 200 Gideons and Auxiliary from 11 different states came together to distribute Scriptures to schools, hotels, motels, nursing homes, medical facilities and other approved areas of distribution. Also, a hundred other Auxiliary members participated in hour-by-hour prayers for the blitz.
The effectiveness of those prayers was immediately evident as two Gideons and their wives narrowly escaped a tragic tanker truck explosion that occurred right next to the blitz headquarters in Loveland.
