Our Gideons in Chile are already preparing to distribute God’s Word in the shelters that have been established in the most affected areas from the February 27th earthquake. As in Haiti, this effort is part of the Gideon Natural Disaster Scripture Distribution Program.
A Gideon regional field officer is planning to visit with the Gideons in northern Chile, where there was less impact from the quake. Once safe travel is confirmed, and Gideons agree they can meet, he will complete this assignment. All efforts are being made to quickly get God’s Word to the people there.
Pray for the dire situation in Chile. Pray that conditions in Chile will be favorable for Gideons to freely distribute God’s Word to those in such desperate need of it. Most importantly, pray that we will have sufficient copies of God’s Word to comfort and meet the needs…so many more people will come to know Christ.
Haiti Update:
Gideon leaders in Haiti are now able to travel in that country to evaluate the most effective ways to implement the Natural Disaster Scripture Distribution Program there. Pray for the Lord’s guidance as we seek to reach these hurting people with God’s Word. It has been reported that many are hungry for the Gospel and that more than 40,000 Haitians have professed faith in Christ since the devastating earthquake in January.
Be in prayer for those people who receive God’s Word at a time when they are searching for answers in their lives. Pray, too, for more funds to supply more Bibles and New Testaments to meet the pressing need for God’s Word in Haiti.
